Pursuit of Innocence is a point and click game where you play as a private eye who is investigating a murder in very high-profile family. His friend, who was the butler for the family, has been framed. You are racing against the clock to try to prove your friend's innocence by exploring the house, finding and connecting clues, all while solving puzzles.
Pursuit of Innocence was my first project at university where I was group leader. My role was to be in charge of making the project run smoothly, be the lead game designer and do all the coding for the game. We were given the task of creating a point and click game on two themes that were chosen from random by picking them out of a hat. We were given the theme of Punk and Victorian.
When I was given these themes, I wanted to make something that was not just about the idea of Steam Punk, as that seemed to be over-used and would make the game seem like a point and click version of Bioshock. Through group meetings, we came up with the idea of a world where the punk revolution was happening during the Victorian area, and anarchy was happening in London. There was a murder at this political family's home and the revolutionists framed the easy target of the butler.
